AFI Panels for JD Wetherspoons
I worked on number of design pieces for Art For Industry, for many years. They supplied framed historical artworks and commissioned art panels, incorporating informative text, for many companies, but mainly the JD Wetherspoons pub chain.
AFI would research the local history of the pub. They would find historical photographs from local archives and museums, historical societies and individual historians. I was to then translate all this information, as well as information on the colour scheme and over all ambience of the pub, into a piece of unique artwork. The artworks were often large format, printed on paper, laminate, alliminum foil, canvas and even glass. The finished result was contemporary, bold and colourful, but always maintaining the integrity of celebration of the history of the pub.
